Maple Sugar Candies

Here is another great idea for that person who is avoiding sugar (for non-diabetic reasons) and wants a treat every once in awhile. Let me introduce you to maple sugar candies here. The ones I bought are here. They are made from pure maple syrup with no additives. If I am craving something sweet, this is a great treat. They basically melt in your mouth. Again, they aren't cheap, but if you want a nice thing to have on hand that is sugar free but satisfies your sweet tooth, these may be for you. According to an article I read here, maple sugar has a glycemic index of 54 while table sugar has a glycemic index of 80 and corn syrup has one of 87.  So although it does spike your sugar, it is a fair bit less.
